Meet Janny

I’m a nonprofit fundraiser, strategist, and advocate dedicated to helping mission-driven organizations grow and thrive. With a doctorate in anthropology and global development, I bring a deep commitment to listening, understanding cultural and historical contexts, and mobilizing resources to drive systemic change. My approach to fundraising is rooted in relationship-building, storytelling, and equity-driven philanthropy, ensuring nonprofits have the funding they need to make a lasting impact.

My career spans global and domestic nonprofit work, with over a decade of experience supporting organizations across the U.S. and Africa. My journey began in the Peace Corps, and later, as a graduate student specializing in African studies, I conducted research on Chinese-Zambian working relationships, knowledge transfer, and cross-cultural collaboration in the telecom, mining, and entrepreneurial sectors. These experiences deepened my passion for gender justice, economic equity, and leadership development, which continue to shape my work today.

I have partnered with organizations such as Next Einstein Forum, African Institute for Mathematical Sciences, and Books for Africa, supporting initiatives in education, STEM, literacy, and youth leadership across Sierra Leone, Zambia, Senegal, Rwanda, and South Africa. Some of my most rewarding experiences have been mentoring young African leaders and supporting them in securing the resources they need to transform their communities.

Currently, I serve as Development Director at a national nonprofit, leading fundraising efforts to advance economic and racial justice for domestic workers. I also volunteer as a grant reader for United Way Dallas and support the Mandela Washington Fellowship, helping emerging leaders access funding to expand their impact.

Beyond my nonprofit leadership, I’m passionate about mentoring and coaching women of color in leadership roles, equipping them with the strategies and confidence to navigate fundraising, nonprofit management, and career growth. I understand the unique challenges that come with stepping into leadership, and I’m committed to helping others build influence, secure resources, and lead with impact.

At the heart of my work, I believe fundraising is not just about raising money—it’s about building relationships, shifting power, and ensuring nonprofits have the resources they need to do what they do best. Whether I’m coaching a board on fundraising, writing a grant, strategizing a major gifts campaign, or mentoring emerging leaders, I’m passionate about helping people and organizations connect with funding and opportunities that create lasting change.

Meet Marianela

I’m a pianist, educator, and finance engineer dedicated to enhancing the sustainability of nonprofits and arts organizations. I help organizations gain administrative clarity and make informed decisions. With expertise in managing budgets and payroll, building efficient systems, streamlining processes, and solving complex challenges, I’m ready to support your organization in achieving lasting success.

As a musician, I’ve had the privilege of performing and collaborating with talented artists at venues throughout New York City and abroad, fostering environments where musicians can come together and create.

Some of my most rewarding experiences include receiving the Performing Arts Fellowship at International House in NYC, where I curated free performances for student residents from around the world, and working as a piano accompanist for MET Opera soprano Osceola Davis, supporting CUNY pre-college students in their lessons.

I am currently working as a contracted accounting manager for several organizations, helping to optimize their financial processes during transitions. Additionally, I hold the position of HR Manager at an arts education nonprofit in NYC, where I aim to cultivate a positive and efficient work atmosphere. My background includes financial roles at the Teaching Artists Guild (TAG), Turtle Bay Music School, Alliance Artists Management, and Argento New Music Project, where I have played a key role in improving financial operations and promoting fair compensation alongside transparent communication.

Beyond my work in administration, I am deeply committed to researching and performing piano and organ music, particularly within choir ensembles. I’m passionate about exploring and promoting underrepresented musical traditions, creating performances that resonate with diverse audiences.

At the core of my work, sustainability in arts organizations and nonprofits begins with empowering people, ensuring financial health, and fostering collaboration. Whether working alongside artists and administrative colleagues or developing new systems and processes for organizations, I am driven by the conviction that the arts have the power to inspire, connect, and transform.
